This Boulder opal has shimmer, sparkle and swirls of iridescence. It feels as if you're looking into a storm cloud with one dark stripe at the bottom. Its smooth finish is beveled into three sides, so the stone has an organic sense that it was lifted directly from the ground. Annette Ferdinandsen bezel sets it into her handcrafted 18k yellow gold band for an otherworldly - and yet pretty - feeling on your finger. The unique shape of this boulder opal is especially transfixing.

Working from her upstate New York studio, Annette Ferdinandsen's handcrafted organic creations are influenced by nature, her travels and surroundings. Her father and grandfather were both model makers for renowned Danish sculptors. Ferdinandsen followed her lineage and attended the Rhode Island School of Design studying sculpture. This background in sculpture has influenced how important form is in her work...subtle curves and movements are signatures of her pieces. An interesting side fact, Annette was David and Ron's, the designers behind Ten Thousand Things, first employee over 20 years ago.
